Summary

Our client is seeking a Reliability Engineer to drive equipment reliability, asset performance, and maintenance effectiveness at their manufacturing facility in Morristown, Tennessee. This position will play a critical role in improving equipment uptime, reducing unplanned downtime, and supporting operational excellence through the development and execution of reliability-centered maintenance strategies.

The successful candidate will work closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Leadership teams to identify reliability risks, implement sustainable solutions, and strengthen preventative and predictive maintenance programs. This is a highly visible role offering the opportunity to influence plant performance while building a long-term reliability culture across the organization.

Description

  • Lead the site's reliability improvement efforts focused on maximizing equipment availability and operational performance.
  • Develop and implement reliability strategies for production equipment, utilities, facility systems, and critical assets.
  • Partner with Maintenance and Operations teams to identify equipment vulnerabilities and eliminate recurring failures.
  • Support the design, installation, startup, and optimization of new or modified equipment with a focus on maintainability and lifecycle performance.
  • Develop and continuously improve preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, and condition-monitoring programs.
  • Utilize reliability tools and methodologies to identify root causes and implement long-term corrective actions.
  • Analyze equipment performance data, downtime trends, maintenance history, and failure patterns to improve asset reliability.
  • Lead or participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations and corrective action implementation.
  • Support maintenance planning and execution activities to improve workforce effectiveness and equipment performance.
  • Evaluate opportunities to reduce maintenance costs while improving reliability and production throughput.
  • Provide technical support during equipment troubleshooting, outages, and critical operational events.
  • Develop training materials and mentor maintenance personnel on reliability best practices and equipment care.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives related to safety, quality, productivity, and asset utilization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 2+ years of experience in Reliability Engineering, Maintenance Engineering, Asset Reliability, or a related technical role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous hands-on maintenance experience as a technician, supervisor, planner, or maintenance leader is highly desirable.
  • Working knowledge of preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, condition monitoring, and reliability-centered maintenance principles.
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, or process equipment.
  • Familiarity with Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA), FMEA, RCM, Weibull analysis, or similar reliability methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to convert data into actionable improvement plans.
  • Experience utilizing CMMS platforms and maintenance performance metrics.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders across Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering.
  • Self-motivated with a continuous improvement mindset and a passion for equipment reliability.
