Summary

The Maintenance Planner is responsible for developing, planning, and coordinating maintenance work that supports the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of a large chemical manufacturing facility. This position creates detailed maintenance job packages for preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, capital projects, and planned shutdowns while coordinating labor, materials, contractor services, and equipment resources. Working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Supply Chain, the Maintenance Planner helps improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and optimize maintenance execution. This is a salaried, non-exempt, Safety Critical position.

Description

  • Develop detailed maintenance job plans including procedures, drawings, equipment instructions, labor estimates, material lists, and required tools.
  • Create, maintain, and continuously improve reusable job plans within SAP.
  • Plan preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, capital projects, and turnaround activities.
  • Estimate labor hours, contractor requirements, materials, equipment, and overall job costs.
  • Coordinate procurement of maintenance materials and services, including purchase requisitions, purchase orders, and goods receipts.
  • Participate in pre-job planning meetings with contractors to review work scope, execution plans, and safety requirements.
  • Support Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) investigations and incorporate findings into future maintenance plans.
  • Review completed work orders to compare actual labor and material usage against planned estimates and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain equipment master data and spare parts information, including new equipment setup, inventory optimization, and data maintenance.
  • Serve as the company representative for contractors and vendors during assigned maintenance activities.
  • Occasionally provide field supervision for Maintenance personnel as assigned.
  • Support plant reliability, maintenance excellence, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical education or an associate degree in a related discipline is preferred.
  • Five or more years of maintenance planning, preventive maintenance, maintenance execution, or turnaround planning experience within a chemical or other process manufacturing facility.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial equipment including pumps, piping systems, valves, vessels, heat exchangers, and rotating equipment.
  • Experience using SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) and Materials Management (MM) modules.
  • Working knowledge of maintenance planning, scheduling, work management systems, and storeroom processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, P&IDs, equipment drawings, and mechanical drawings, including making redline revisions.
  • Understanding of maintenance methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in industrial manufacturing facilities.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and computerized maintenance management systems.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and collaboratively across multiple departments.
